GEM Conferred “AFRICA LIVES DEVELOPMENT AWARD” for Community Service and Impact

In a letter of conferment singed by the Africa Skills Center , it was written in part…

“Congratulations. This is to inform you that after thorough background check, the board of Africa Skills Centre, South Africa has approved your Conferment with the Africa Lives Development Award. Nominees for these Award were screened from about 48 Countries using their local communities achievements and impact as the Criteria. Integrity was highly considered in the Screening process as well. We are glad to let you know that you came out outstandingly well fulfilling the above Criteria according to our screening committee. This is our own way of saying thank you for giving back to the Society, you gave people hope and reasons to live, thank you for being an Agent of change….”

Africa Skills Center is an International nonprofit organization based in South Africa. The International awards were created to promote high standards and also to increase African Skills and standard of living. I

Responding to the conferment, The Executive Director Girls Education Mission International (GEM) Mrs Keturah Shammah congratulated all staff members of GEM by saying “this award is for us all that make things work at GEM. The content defines each and everyone of us. This particular recognition is a springboard for us to remain steadfast in maintaining and protecting our name ‘model Non-profit Organization’, no matter the circumstances….” She  went further to say that; “I am glad that we are recognized for our local community achievements, impact and integrity. We are being appreciated for giving back to the society, giving people hope and reasons to live. we are honored for becoming agents of change”.

Shammah concluded by saying “there is hope and future for each and everyone making it possible sacrificially at GEM”. Board members and Staff are indeed thrilled by the award and are committed to doing more to ensure that girls and women have a better life.
